Who we are
This website is operated by the Global Initiative for Replication in Communication Science (REP-COM), a research initiative jointly based at the Behavioral Science Institute, Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands) and the Department of Communication Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Netherlands). REP-COM is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
You can reach us via the contact form on this website.
What data we collect — and what we don't
We do not use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or advertising technologies. Visiting the website does not result in any personal data being collected or stored by us.
Personal data is only collected when you actively submit one of the two forms on this site:
- Contact form (contact.html): name, email address, inquiry type, and message content.
- Community sign-up form (Join the Community page): first name, last name, email address, institutional affiliation, position, country, research area(s), interest in lab participation, consent to receive updates, and an optional message.
Why we collect it and the legal basis
Contact form: We process your name, email address, and message in order to respond to your inquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in being able to communicate with people who contact us, and where relevant, consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Community sign-up form: We process your details to add you to the REP-COM community, notify you of relevant projects and open calls, and — if indicated — consider you for future data collection consortium invitations. The legal basis is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by voluntarily submitting the form. Consent to receive updates is collected separately via an explicit checkbox. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us through the contact form.
How data is transmitted and stored
Both forms are processed by Formspree (Formspree, Inc.), which acts as our data processor. When you submit a form, Formspree transmits the data to us by email and temporarily stores the submission on its servers. Formspree's privacy policy is available at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
Form submissions are received at a secure institutional email address at Radboud University. We do not store your data in any additional database beyond what is necessary to respond to your inquiry or maintain the community list.
How long we keep your data
Contact form submissions are kept only as long as necessary to handle the inquiry, after which they are deleted. Community sign-up data is retained for as long as you are an active member of the REP-COM community. If you withdraw consent or request deletion, your data will be removed without undue delay.
Who we share data with
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. The only third party involved is Formspree as our form processing service (see above). No data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
